About the Opportunity: The successful candidate will be working as part of the Audit & Assurance department and will be working with at least 5 people and will also be collaborating with the non-audit service teams. The firm prides itself on having a modern forward-looking approach and the Audit & Assurance team is seeking to recruit an individual who shares the same positive outlook. The department is led by a highly motivated Director who has a top 5 accountancy firm background and has ambitious-growth plans for the department and firm. About the Responsibilities:
Responsibility for managing the audit department (statutory, non-statutory and service charge audits). For smaller audits this may involve working alone; and for the larger audits, managing a team which includes internal staff and external contractors.
Managing a portfolio of small and medium sized audit clients including UK multi national and private groups, along with PE-backed enterprises.
Managing corporate clients including those with complex issues requiring higher levels of ad-hoc work. • Ensuring pro-active planning & execution of all audit engagements, including open and close meetings with clients.
Business development and winning work by proactively managing existing clients and targeting new audit clients.
Reviewing and appraising internal working practices, identifying areas where efficiency improvements can be made whilst ensuring high audit quality is maintained within the Audit & Assurance function.
Establishing the audit approach; reviewing audit work papers and ensuring that audit files are completed in a timely manner and in line with client expectations.
Specific responsibility for a group of employees to ensure audit work is appropriately completed to satisfy audit objectives.
Acting as a trusted business adviser to clients, managing a varied and growing portfolio and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues and clients.
You will be required to assist in the production of statutory accounts and any other matters as the practice so requires.
About the Applicant: Essential
Qualifications:
Qualified ACA/ACCA Accountant
Skills & Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience managing and running a varied audit portfolio
Excellent knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS 102
Experience of using CaseWare audit software (or a similar audit software)
Expertise in using Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Desirable
Knowledge of IFRS
Good teamwork and communication skills
Adaptability and flexibility to meet the Directors’ needs
Good organisational, problem solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to coach and train in a supportive manner
Personal
The successful candidate will be expected to communicate with clients directly, so excellent spoken and written English skills are a mandatory requirement.
A professional, enthusiastic and responsible approach are required, as well as being able to demonstrate the ability to work independently.
The role includes the requirement to carry out research and review complex financial reporting matters at times, therefore an eye for detail is also important.
