About the Opportunity:

As our client matures as a business, they are keen to recruit client manager, specifically to support on a portfolio of construction clients. This has become a key industry they support and as such they are looking for someone who can bring a commercial mindset when providing services to these clients.
There’s no sign of their growth slowing down, so they are on the lookout for a highly motivated, qualified/part-qualified accountant that shares our entrepreneurial mindset.

About the Responsibilities:

Joining as a Client Manager - Construction, you will be providing accountancy and business support services to a portfolio of construction clients.

This role will involve:
  • A focus on a construction client base with an opportunity to bring past experience to these specific clients
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients to ensure the client experience is outstanding
  • Preparation and review of management accounts and management reporting for a portfolio of clients
  • Review of CIS for contractor and subcontractor processes
  • Self-Assessment preparation & submission for more complex clients
  • Undertake year-end review and preparation of workpapers
  • Maintain and review regular cashflow, budgeting and forecasts
  • Initial review of VAT returns
  • Tax planning with clients
  • Review and perform the newly introduced mid-year review service
  • Developing and managing financial systems and identifying areas for improvement
  • Overseeing client deadlines to ensure junior team members prioritise their workload
  • Responding to finance-related queries and providing analysis and insights to clients
  • Offering guidance, support and training to junior team members
  • Review of junior members performance via annual appraisals
You will be integral to the practice’s continued expansion and will receive ongoing training by working closely with the senior management to help deliver the strategy.

About the Applicant:

They require someone with:
  • At least 5 years practice experience and considerable exposure managing and working specifically with construction businesses
  • Always adopts a positive mindset
  • Takes a commercial approach, keeping client’s best interests at the forefront
  • Enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude
  • Possesses excellent attention to detail
  • Enjoys and sees the benefit of developing others
  • Capable of building strong relationships internally and externally
  • Adaptable and keeps on top of new technology advancing the industry
  • Able to remain calm under pressure
  • Innovative and willing to challenge the status quo
  • ACA/ACCA qualified with experience managing junior team members
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to balance workloads to manage the needs of various clients
  • Experience in managing a portfolio of clients with bookkeeping knowledge
  • Experience with Xero accounting software is advantageous
The role will involve travel to several different client locations, so access to a vehicle is essential.
